Tend the Garden

The child within
Kept sharing
She is choked by weeds

….

I can’t even blame the devil
For the sin
I committed
Against my own heart
Because
.
.
.
.
….of what I unconsciously believed.

All along I watered someone else’s seeds.

Reflection: What beliefs have crowded your inner garden?

This poem is dedicated to women of color who systemically carry much of our collective shadows across race, class and gender.  It is so easy for collective lies to become internalized beliefs.
